The Hayabusa got a substantial power boost last year via a 41 cc increase in displacement, along with upgraded front brakes and muscular new styling. Though this moto-missile’s super-stable chassis forces a sporting posture, the ergonomics are not so extreme as to rule out the ‘Busa as a sporting grand-touring rocketship-with the emphasis on “rocket.”

Despite already building the most dominant bike in the AMA Superbike championship, Suzuki isn’t resting on its laurels. Fresh off the drawing board comes a multitude of performance-enhancing updates intended to keep the mighty Gixxer at the top of its game. Our favorites include the Showa Big Piston Fork, featuring damping adjusters located on the fork cap, relegating spring preload to the base of the leg. A switch on the right handlebar allows the rider to select from three engine-performance settings to match riding conditions; and an electronically controlled steering damper varies damping force according to speed.

Don’t feel you have to head north to the Yukon, however, because the big ‘Strom makes a great daily commuter, as well, its standard-equipment tail rack allowing you to pack a laptop PC or a lunch pail to the job site, taking the work out of getting to work.

It’s powered by the engine from the company’s SY250F trialer but in an entirely different chassis that gives the bike the ability to serve as an off-road exploration bike. It has received significant upgrades since then, including the same S-DMS engine-management system used on the GSX-R1000, allowing the rider to choose from three power settings via a handlebar switch. The Dual Throttle Valve fuel-injection system uses two 8-hole, fine-spray injectors per cylinder for better fuel atomization. The 3.2 4T is Sherco’s answer to the call for more four-stroke trials bikes, and it’s a good one. Barely more than a couple of wheels and a motor, the 3.2 is just a scant few pounds heavier than Sherco’s biggest two-stroke trialer, giving it 317cc of hooked-up traction in a package that’s just as easy to maneuver. Practically everything but the rider is tidily tucked inside the slim frame, making the 4T so compact that riding it is almost like riding a bicycle.
